Antonio Conte could face retrospective punishment for his bitter row with Andrea Agnelli during Inter’s Coppa Italia semi-final second leg at Juventus, an Italian broadcaster reported tonight.
Wednesday’s papers reported that Conte and Agnelli were at loggerheads throughout the Derby d’Italia at the Allianz Stadium, with the Nerazzurri’s head coach caught by cameras showing his former owner the finger before half-time.
Sky Sport Italia warned that if yesterday’s match officials or the Italian Football Federation’s prosecutors have reported or noticed anything particular, both individuals could be sanctioned.
The sanctions that Conte and Agnelli could be subject to are wide ranging, from a simple warning to something more serious such as a long-term suspension.
Agnelli is alleged to have called Conte a ‘d***h***’ by multiple sources in the Italian media, before following him down the tunnel after full-time while muttering insults with one hand covering his face.
Conte is thought to have encouraged the Juve president at that point to find some courage and speak directly to his face, although Inter and Juve’s versions of events appear to differ.
Juventus have denied reports claiming their sporting director Fabio Paratici threatened to hit Nerazzurri team manager Lele Oriali at the end of the first half.
