Inter paid their players’ salaries for the month of January yesterday, a report in the Italian media has confirmed.
Corriere dello Sport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri would benefit from ‘a new normality’ after owners Suning respected all of UEFA’s payment deadlines on March 31.
Inter’s players are said to be confident the club will soon sort out their other outstanding salaries for November, December, February and March.
Antonio Conte also has reason to smile after Romelu Lukaku, Milan Skriniar, Marcelo Brozovic, Ivan Perisic and Achraf Hakimi all returned to training in good shape on Wednesday.
Inter’s five internationals all tested negative for COVID-19 in their home countries before flying back to Italy, and all five delivered another negative result in a rapid test yesterday.
The Nerazzurri players will now await the results of their molecular tests after each completed an individual training program yesterday.
All five should join up with the rest of Conte’s squad today, providing there are no positive tests, at which point Conte will only be missing Inter’s three Italians – Nicolo Barella, Stefano Sensi and Alessandro Bastoni – along with Christian Eriksen and Andrei Radu.
Arturo Vidal will not be available for Saturday’s Serie A fixture at Bologna, meanwhile, with the Chilean unwilling to take any risks as he recovers from knee surgery.
Conte could have the midfielder back for next Sunday’s game at home to Cagliari.
