Emerson Palmieri remains a key transfer target for Antonio Conte at Inter, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said Emerson’s name had never been taken off the Nerazzurri’s list and that Conte would love to sign the full-back this summer.

Emerson wants to leave Chelsea after making just two Premier League appearances all season, with no change in his fortunes following Thomas Tuchel’s arrival as head coach.

Inter will be ‘almost obliged’ to invest in a new left wing-back, the Milan-based paper explained, with Ashley Young set to leave and Federico Dimarco anything but certain to rejoin the Nerazzurri from Hellas Verona.

Conte made an attempt to bring Emerson to Inter last summer, but the Nerazzurri’s pursue proved unsuccessful.

Emerson has made 14 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea during the current campaign, scoring his only goal in a 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League last month.

Inter are also keen on bringing in Emerson’s Italy teammate Alessandro Florenzi, as per the same source today.
