Inter do not deserve any of the criticism they have received for playing ‘bad football’ under Antonio Conte, according to one Italian football journalist.

The Nerazzurri were confirmed as Serie A champions on Sunday for the first time since 2010, after they beat Crotone 2-0 and Atalanta were held to a 1-1 draw at Sassuolo.

Conte has split opinion in Italy for the style of play he adopts with Inter, but Giuseppe Cruciani cannot understand the criticism which has come his way.

Speaking on Sport Mediaset earlier this week during Tiki Taka, Cruciani insisted: “The biggest nonsense people say about Inter is that Conte’s side plays bad football.

“They play great football, a modern and effective style of play.

“Inter’s spine is formed of the defence, Achraf Hakimi, Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez and Marcelo Brozovic.”

Despite Conte’s exceptional achievement at Inter, Cruciani admitted that there is one thing he cannot reconcile when it comes to the former Juventus boss.

“No coach can ever earn €12 million per year as their salary, it’s madness,” he argued.

“I understand you might need to invest in order to win the scudetto, but you can’t pay that much for a coach.”

Inter have won the league with four games to spare and can now relax a little for their remaining fixtures against Sampdoria, Roma, Juventus and Udinese.

The Nerazzurri can then turn their attention to planning their title defence for next season.
