Inter must sort out the situation of Radja Nainggolan’s contract termination so that he can join Cagliari before the Sardinian club will continue talks on the transfer of Uruguayan midfielder Nahitan Nandez.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, who report that the Belgian’s situation is fully intertwined with that of Nandez, as it stands.

Nainggolan has been expected to depart from the Nerazzurri for much of the summer transfer window, the the 33-year-old not in the club’s plans for next season and his wages considered to be far too high to continue on.

Talks are thought to have been ongoing for the Belgian’s permanent transfer to Cagliari, where he spent last season on loan, although an agreement has not yet been reached with the issue of the severance pay owed to the player by Inter thought to be a key obstacle.

The two clubs are also now in advanced talks for the move of Nandez, who the Nerazzurri have stepped up their pursuit of this week, but these talks will be on hold until Naninggolan’s sitation can be sorted out, with the Nerazzurri hoping to agree on severance pay so that he is free to join the Rossoblu.
