Inter midfielder Radja Nainggolan was absent from yesterday’s friendly match against Pergolettese due to a minor knee injury received in training on Saturday.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Belgian was kept out of the friendly match to preserve his fitness and ensure that he did not further aggravate the knock.

The 33-year-old was among four players missing from the friendly, with Valentino Lazaro still out with a strain that has been affecting him for some weeks and Danilo D’Ambrosio missing through a left thigh injury which he sustained on Wednesday.

Young striker Samuele Mulattier was also absent from the match, as the 20-year-old is just about to complete his loan move to Crotone.

Nainggolan is still expected to depart on loan for Cagliari during the summer, and he will not want to compromise a potential move through an injury, and will hope that the medical staff can help him back to full fitness soon.
