Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has received assurances from owners Suning that he will be given the budget to sign two strikers and one wing-back should Romelu Lukaku be sold.
This according to Italian news outlet FCInter1908, who report that Marotta held a videoconference meeting with Nerazzurri President Steven Zhang, in which the pair discussed plans for the future should the Belgian depart.
With Chelsea pushing for Lukaku, it looks clear that the Belgian will be sold, and the Nerazzurri will have to quickly prepare for a future without him.
To this end, Marotta has asked for sufficient investment in the transfer market after the fee comes in for Lukaku to strengthen the team before the transfer window shuts.
The CEO was clear that he and his colleagues among the club directors cannot run the club given the anger from the fans if certain assurances are not given investment in the squad after Lukaku’s sale.
To this end, the report states that Zhang has promised that there will be investment in two strikers with the right profile to keep the attacking options available strong despite the massive loss represented by Lukaku’s departure.
Meanwhile, the club will also use part of the amount received for Lukaku to bring in a right-sided wing-back, and will bring in a priority target to replace Achraf Hakimi.
