Inter target Nahitan Nandez has refused to join his Cagliari teammates in travelling to Spain for a preseason friendly with Mallorca.

In an interview with Tuttomercatoweb.com, Isolani director Stefano Capozucca confirmed that the Uruguay international had failed to turn up for the squad’s scheduled flight from Sardinia’s main airport for a clash against the La Liga team.

Nandez has been strongly linked with a move to Inter and the Nerazzurri have been attempting to finalise a loan with an obligation to purchase next summer.

“Nandez did not show up for the appointment to depart for Mallorca and this was without permission from the club,” Capozucca claimed.

The director also suggested that the 25-year-old’s actions could backfire and make President Tommaso Giulini even more reluctant to release him to Inter.

“Always behaving with the utmost respect towards the club, the fans, teammates and the shirt is an absolute priority for us,” he continued.

“Certainly, such disrespectful attitudes will only harden the position of our President who, despite the many economic difficulties of the moment , will never accept this type of behaviour to force a move.

“I hope that those who advised Nandez realise that this does not protect the player and that Nahitan understands that ‘putting Cagliari first’ is not just a message that he reads every day as he enters the locker room, but a creed and a duty of anyone who has the honour of being part of our family.”

Nandez joined Cagliari from Argentine giants Boca Juniors in 2019 and has scored four goals in 72 appearances for the Isolani.
