Inter will turn to Roma striker Edin Dzeko as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, as the Belgian closes in on a move to Chelsea.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku’s impending departure to the Premier League will have a wider knock-on effect in attack for Inter.

The Nerazzurri will immediately move for Giallorossi striker Dzeko after a failed approach for him in January, with the Bosnia international ready to agree a tw0-year deal worth €5 million per season.

Roma coach Jose Mourinho has promised Dzeko the chance to leave for free should he receive a multi-year offer from elsewhere, given that he only has one season remaining on his deal at the Stadio Olimpico.

The 35-year-old is also seen as a more affordable option than Atalanta’s Duvan Zapata, who is valued at €50m, even if there is a possibility of negotiating that price down to €35m.

Inter have also seen an approach for Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic rejected outright, despite efforts to sweeten the deal by including midfielder Stefano Sensi in exchange.

Once Dzeko signs, the plan is to partner him with a second striker and efforts will then be made to land Joaquin Correa from Lazio.
