Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi will be hoping for significant goal-scoring contributions from his midfield players after the departure of Romelu Lukaku.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who argue that with the Nerazzurri losing their top scorer and assister in the form of Lukaku’s sale to Chelsea, the numbers must be made up elsewhere in the squad.

The newspaper notes that the coach will have been pleased to see Marcelo Brozovic and Matias Vecino get on the scoresheet in Sunday’s friendly against Parma.

Both midfielders could be poised to have key roles for the Nerazzurri next season, and if each can add a few more goals to their game along with the rest of the midfield then the absence of Lukaku could be felt less on the overall attacking production.

Tuttosport also note that Hakan Calhanoglu in particular could play a key role, as the new manager looks to rely on the qualities midfielders for goals amid significant changes in forward areas, with the Turk known for his finishing ability.
