Inter’s new Bosnian striker will almost certainly be starting the opening league game against Genoa next week because of various injuries to other players, according to a report in the Italian media.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the new signing from AS Roma will immediately be trusted with leading the line for his new club because there is almost no one else available to Simone Inzaghi.

Lautaro Martinez and Alexis Sanchez are both struggling with minor injuries that the club do not wish to rush them back from. Andrea Pinamonti is expected to be leaving the club soon.

Edin Dzeko may be partnered up front by the young Uruguayan striker Martin Satriano but he missed the Dynamo Kyiv friendly through a minor injury so is still a doubt for Genoa.

Alternatively, Simone Inzaghi could play Stefano Sensi just behind Edin Dzeko in a role that could also suit Hakan Calhanoglu.
