New Inter signing Edin Dzeko will start his first competitive fixture for the Nerazzurri only days after his arrival, with the Bosnian set to make his debut against Genoa on Saturday.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that manager Simone Inzaghi will call upon the Bosnian for the Serie A opener as he has few other options.

Dzeko is the first attacking reinforcement brought in following the shock departure of Romelu Lukaku, and he will be called into action to lead the line this weekend and show why he was brought in.

Lukaku is gone, Lautaro Martinez will miss the match through suspension, and Alexis Sanchez is recovering from an injury, leaving the new arrival as the only remaining senior option in the striker position that Inzaghi can call upon.

The manager will hope that Dzeko can rely on his experience and tactical understanding to quickly settle in and adapt to his new team, as he will be the most suitable attacking player for the clash with Genoa.
