Inter are set to ramp up their efforts to tie their best players down to long-term contracts ahead of next summer’s transfer window, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport, an agreement has been found with Lautaro Martinez for the renewal of his contract on a higher wage than he was previously earning.

This deal is not official yet but it is believed that major progress has been made and the two parties are on the same page.

Once that is signed, attention will turn to the midfield where Marcelo Brozovic only has one year left on his deal. He wants to be paid the same as Hakan Calhanoglu who earns just over €5.5 million a year.

Nicolo Barella will also be targeted so that Inter strengthen their position when big clubs inevitably try to sign him next year.

Defensive pairing Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar will also enter talks for new deals.
