Inter defender Milan Skriniar is confident that the Nerazzurri will have the qualities needed to overcome Sampdoria in this afternoon’s Serie A clash at the Marassi.

Speaking to InterTV before the match, as reported by FCInterNews, the Slovak gave his prediction that the Genoa-based team would be a difficult opponent but stressed that he and his teammates were focused on preparations to get the better of them and believed that they will have what it takes to emerge victorious.

Inter return to the pitch from the international break this afternoon, not having played together in more than two weeks, and they will want to make a positive impression and continue their perfect start from before the break.

Skriniar gave some insight into how the Nerazzurri intend to approach the match, with the team well aware of the challenge that they will face in trying to take three points from Sampdoria even if their opponents for today’s clash have only managed one point in the table so far.

“After two victories in the first two games, it will be important to continue on from those performances,” the defender said. “We return from the international break and it will be important to win.”

On the team’s strategy for the match, he stated that “Headers are important for us, and we have many players who cross well. We are a strong team and we have to prove it today.”

The 26-year-old showed respect for the qualities of his former team but made clear that he and his teammates are not afraid of today’s match.

“They have a good team, they have great players,” Skriniar concluded, “but we have to focus on ourselves. We have to show on the pitch that we are the strongest team and that’s why we are Italian Champions.”
