Mazzarri: “Sometimes you lose matches, the important thing is to not lose your conviction”

After the loss in tonight’s game against Roma Inter’s coach Walter Mazzarri talked to Sky Sports and it soon became evident that he was quite upset: “I look beyond the result and we know that sometimes football is about episodes. Sometimes it’s not going well. Since I arrived here I have tried to get the team to develop and provide them with conviction and I saw that today. They capitalized on favorable situations like Totti’s goal from outside the penalty area. Today it went like that. Even though we, ironically, played better in the first half than against Fiorentina. During the second half it was a siege, but I said to myself: we will never score a goal. I told the guys to go on like this, I’m disappointed because we didn’t deserve it. They were good and hurt us directly, we made too many mistakes in attack. You understood even by the goal line referee’s mistake that this evening had started off badly.”

Gervinho created some difficulties for the defense: “But we knew about that. Regarding the possession of the ball we were superior and in terms of gameplay, we were not inferior. It doesn’t explain the 0-3, but football is that way. It was the same against Cagliari, at the first mistake we conceded a goal. But ultimately the results prevail, missteps can happen. “Big credit to Roma, it’s no coincidence that their defense is the best in the league. They not only play well but also allow nothing.
