Inter striker Edin Dzeko has warned his Bosnia teammates that they must learn from their costly defeat to Finland, as he returns to the Nerazzurri with injury.

The former Roma striker has been sent back to Italy after failing to recover from a flexor strain and sat out Bosnia’s 3-1 loss to Finland yesterday, ending their hopes of qualification for the 2022 World Cup, and will not feature against Ukraine on Tuesday.

Prior to travelling back to Milan, Dzeko conducted an interview with the Bosnian federation and, as reported by L’Interista.it, urged his compatriots to learn from the experience after the loss in Sarajevo.

“The defeat against Finland was hard for everyone. We must learn from this defeat, I hope it will serve as a lesson for the future. We must continue to work, to believe in our abilities, and in this way I believe that in the future we will be able to take away some satisfaction.”

Dzeko will undergo treatment with Inter’s medical staff as they look to nurse him back to fitness in time to face Serie A league leaders Napoli next Sunday.

The summer signing has scored eight goals in 16 appearances for the Nerazzurri so far this season.
