Inter defender Stefan de Vrij has been linked with a move away to Tottenham Hotspur, and the lack of an agreement on a contract extension could be a worry for the Nerazzurri.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who highlight the Dutchman’s situation as rumours link him with a switch to the Premier League.

De Vrij has been reported as a major target for Spurs since former Nerazzurri boss Antonio Conte took over as head coach at the London club.

The Dutchman’s current deal at Inter is set to expire at the end of June 2023, and as of yet no progress has been made on talks towards extending his contract beyond this date.

Moreover, de Vrij’s agent Mino Raiola has been reported to have opened up to the possibility of moving him to the Premier League in the past, which could also be a factor.

The 29-year-old defender has made statements denying that he has been contacted by Conte about a potential reunion at Spurs, but without progress on a contract renewal the move could be a possibility.
