Former Italian footballer Walter Sabatini has said that Inter boss Simone Inzaghi is very underrated as a coach, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Whilst speaking to Radio Sportiva, via FCInternews, Walter Sabatini explained that the work that Simone Inzaghi did at Lazio and the work that he is doing at Inter is not rated highly enough by onlookers.

“Inter are holding up, a whole series of events made us think of something else. Simone Inzaghi is very underrated, it was enough to look at Lazio to see that his team has been playing high-level, technical football for years.

“It has a mentality that has led to Inter where they also have the legacy of Conte’s work that remains in the engine of the players.”

Simone Inzaghi was in charge at Lazio for five seasons and he took them to the last 16 of the Champions League for the first time in many years. They were heavily beaten by Bundesliga side Bayern Munich.

He looked set to continue his time at the club but then Inter swooped quickly when Antonio Conte left the club at the end of the season.

After a mixed but mostly positive start to his time at the Nerazzurri, Simone Inzaghi is now delivering regular victories and has Inter playing very attacking football.
