The second striker alongside Edin Dzeko and the right wing were the only two positions where Simone Inzaghi had a decision to make.

Matteo Darmian has often been favoured in big games by the former Lazio coach due to his reliability and defensive abilities, but Simone Inzaghi has chosen to let Denzel Dumfries continue his good form.

There was a chance that Alexis Sanchez would start the match as he is in good form but Lautaro Martinez has returned to Italy with more time to train.
