Former Juventus and Bologna midfielder Giancarlo Marocchi feels that Inter got the job done with their Coppa Italia win over Roma even if they weren’t quite at their best.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Marocchi also gave the view that the Nerazzurri had not deserved to lose in the Milan derby on Saturday.

Inter scored very early in Tuesday’s Coppa Italia quarter-final clash, and from then on they balanced looking for a second goal with keeping a dangerous Giallorossi team under control.

In the end, the Nerazzurri killed the match off in the second half through an Alexis Sanchez strike from well outside the box into the top left corner, but they never went for the throat as they had when facing the same opposition in Serie A in December.

Marocchi looked back on the match and analyzed that “In the end the stronger team won, even if they weren’t quite at their usual pace.”

He also looked at the Nerazzurri’s week in the context of their season, concluding that “It hasn’t been a bad week for Inter, who played well in the derby but lost. We can’t recover that Inter have a game in hand against Bologna.”
