Legendary former AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta feels that Inter could have gotten more than just a point from their Serie A clash with Napoli this evening.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the former defender gave the view that the Nerazzurri gave a very strong display and could have won the match during the second half.
The Nerazzurri got off to a poor start, with the Partenopei looking the more proactive and incisive team for the first few minutes and earning a penalty for their efforts, from which they went a goal up.
However, the Nerazzurri gradually steadied themselves, and especially after halftime they looked more like their usual selves, scoring quickly after the restart and then doing well to create more chances than the home side.
In Costacurta’s view, the Nerazzurri’s performance on the night would have warranted all three points despite having to settle for sharing the points with Napoli.
“Napoli dropped off and Inter grew into it,” he said. “Inzaghi’s team is strong, they showed it again today.”
“At the beginning the Nerazzurri suffered, then they deserved to equalizer and would have even deserved more,” he added. “Before the derby the title race seemed over, but not so.”
