Inter are aiming to have defender Alessandro Bastoni back from suspension for next Sunday’s Serie A clash with Sassuolo.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Nerazzurri are counting on getting his ban reduced to just one game from two on appeal.
Bastoni received a two-match suspension for his words to match officials in the aftermath of the Nerazzurri’s derby loss to AC Milan, and has now served the first of those matches during their Serie A draw against Napoli yesterday.
Simone Inzaghi was also absent yesterday, serving out a one-match touchline ban, and will definitely be back for the Sassuolo clash, but he will be hoping that he can already have Bastoni back in defense.
The club consider the two-match suspension for Bastoni’s infringement to be unusually harsh and have appealed to have it reduced to just one match.
The Nerazzurri know that they will be without Marcelo Brozovic when they face the Neroverdi, as the Croat picked up a suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards, but they will hope that they aren’t also without Bastoni.
