Legendary former Inter midfielder Esteban Cambiasso believes that the Nerazzurri have the quality to go through against Liverpool in their Champions League round of sixteen tie.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the Argentine gave the view that even with the 2-0 deficit from the first leg to make up, the Nerazzurri still have the confidence to fight for a place in the quarter-finals in the second leg at Anfield.

Inter played well for long stretches in the first leg of their Champions League knockout tie against the Reds, but were not clinical with their chances and were punished during the second half to lose 2-0 on the night.

Beating the Reds at Anfield to turn the tie is not beyond the Nerazzurri, although they will know that it is the most formidable challenge of their season so far.

However, Cambiasso has faith in the abilities of his old side, and believes that they can do it.

“The only certain thing is that there is nothing impossible, in sport as in life,” he said. “Going there thinking that the tie is done seems like a mistake.”

“I think that Simone Inzaghi will know better than all of us about how to play against Liverpool,” the former midfielder added, “he is the one who sees the players every day.”

He also added that “I expect that they’ll be more convinced after yesterday’s result, we’ll see on Tuesday.”
