Legendary former AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta feels that Inter are slight favourites in the Serie A title race due to the fixture list that they have left to play.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Costacurta gave the view that the opponents that the Nerazzurri have left to play being less difficult than those of city rivals AC Milan could be the difference for the Scudetto.

The Nerazzurri play Bologna this evening, and from there have to face the likes of Udinese, Empoli, Cagliari, and Sampdoria.

All five of these teams are in the bottom half of the Serie A table, and while there are no truly easy matches in Serie A, the Nerazzurri could see their task as being more straightforward than if they’d had to face higher-placed teams.

If Inter are to win all five of their matches left then they will be mathematically guaranteed to win the title, and so their fixture list could become a major factor.

“Inter are slightly ahead for the title, because they have the easiest fixture list,” Costacurta opined.

As for the quality of Lautaro Martinez and Joaquin Correa as an attacking duo, he gave the view that “I like them, I’m one of the few who think that Lautaro is better with Tucu than with Dzeko. That’s what I think.”
