Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi has no doubt that the team has had a big blow dealt to them in the form of their 2-1 loss to Bologna in yesterday evening’s Serie A clash.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, the coach admitted that the team are no longer in control of their own destiny in the Serie A title race after losing their nerve to suffer their fourth defeat of the Serie A season.

The Nerazzurri started out in the ascendancy and took the lead through an excellent solo goal by Ivan Perisic, and it appeared that everything was on track for them in their efforts to go top of the table by winning their game in hand.

However, the Rossoblu spoiled their evening first by finding an equalizer through Marko Arnautovic and then through holding out with a gritty defensive display.

Things got even worse for the Nerazzurri after the Bologna forward Nicola Sansone capitalized on an error in possession by stand-in goalkeeper Andrei Radu to make it 2-1, and this leaves the Nerazzurri’s title push in serious doubt.

“We tried to win it until the end,” Inzaghi said, “and after going 1-0 up we had to find the second but unfortunately we suffered and equalizer that could have been avoided.”

“In the second half we started quite well,” he said, “we had chances but we didn’t manage to score, and after conceding the goal for 2-1 we lost our nerve, we lost our shape and we lost a match which means we’re not on course any more.”

The coach suggested that “We lacked a bit of cynicism and a bit of luck in the individual incidents.”

“We created a lot but we didn’t manage to score the second goal, and unfortunately in the second half welost our nerve and were too frenetic,” he added, “and we didn’t do as well as we could have.”

Looking ahead to the weekend’s clash with Udinese, Inzaghi said that “We know what awaits us in that match, we come up against another team in good form like Bologna this evening, and we have to try to be ready.”
