Inter defender Lorenzo Pirola will undergo his medicals today ahead of a move to Salernitana for next season.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Campanian club are on the verge of signing the 20-year-old, and that the medicals and other formalities should be wrapped up today.

Pirola had spent the season just gone as well as the previous one on loan with Monza, but the newly-promoted side had decline to exercise their purchase option on the defender.

The Lombard team had still been interested in signing Pirola on a permanent basis this summer, but at a lower fee than their purchase option had been for, whilst Salernitana also stepped up with an interest.

Now Salernitana look to have won the race for the 20-year-old, who will undergo his medicals today and then be signed to try and help the Campanians remain in Serie A for yet another season.
