Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio is hopeful that the Nerazzurri can get back to winning ways next season.

Speaking to InterTV after yesterday’s 4-1 friendly win over Lugano, the 33-year-old stressed the team’s aim of approaching next season with a competitive mindset and the ambition of always winning.

The Nerazzurri enjoyed plenty of success last season, winning the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana as well as finishing second in Serie A two points behind city rivals AC Milan.

However, the failure to win the Scudetto ahead of the Rossoneri will feel like a failure especially considering the lead that they had at one point enjoyed over their rivals, and so the team will go into the upcoming campaign with a desire to avenge this loss.

The season is still a month away, but already the team are getting themselves into the mindset of wanting to win at all costs.

“The important thing is always to win, regardless of who you play,” D’Ambrosio said. “For self-belief, for the new signings who have arrived.”

“It’s important to make it clear that no matter who we face, the important thing is that Inter win,” he added.

“There have been some positive signs shown already, and others to improve on,” the defender said. “But we’re only at the beginning and we have a lot of major work to do. There’s still time to prepare.”
