Inter CEO Beppe Marotta wants to keep hold of both Milan Skriniar and Denzel Dumfries this summer and postpone their sale to June 2023.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the CEO’s plan hinges on raising cash through other sales and extending Skriniar’s contract.

Inter are keen to resist all offers for both Skriniar and Dumfries, with coach Simone Inzaghi having made clear that he would consider losing either to be a significant blow to preparations for the season.

So far now offers have arrived which have seriously tested the Nerazzurri’s valuation for either, although if a huge bid did come in they could still be willing to listen.

In the meantime, Marotta is working to earn a total of 25-30 million from the sales of Andrea Pinamonti and Cesare Casadei, which would not be enough to meet the club’s ambitious financial goal of a 60 million net transfer profit for the window but would be a good start.

Should these sales be done, there would be room to leave the sale of a higher-value player until the beginning of next summer, with the deadline for a big sale to reach the financial goal being the end of the fiscal year at the end of June 2023.

A big sale on the horizon continues to be all but inevitable, but Marotta has now decided to start planning to postpone it rather than disrupt preparations for the upcoming season.
