Inter defender Federico Dimarco has been praised for his display in yesterday evening’s 2-1 Serie A win over Lecce.
The 24-year-old received a positive grade of 7/10 for his selection in the player ratings for the match published in today’s print edition of the Corriere dello Sport, who noted that he more than justified his surprise selection with his contribution particularly in the first half.
Dimarco started in place of Alessandro Bastoni on the left of Inter’s back three, and immediately made it clear that he would be interpreting the position in a very attacking way.
The 24-year-old looked sharp and was instantly rewarded for his efforts by playing a big part in Romelu Lukaku’s opening goal, and he was one of the few real driving forces of an Inter display that got sloppier as the evening wore on.
Meanwhile, Denzel Dumfries was named as the Nerazzurri’s man of the match with a 7.5/10 score for his display from the bench, as the Dutchman was the decisive factor in the three points.
Several Inter players came in for criticism from the Corriere with low 5/10 grades given out to Marcelo Brozovic, Hakan Calhanoglu, Milan Skriniar, Stefan de Vrij, and Robin Gosens, whilst Lautaro Martinez was only awarded the slightly higher 5.5/10 grade due to his late assist for Dumfries.
