Inter are still waiting a few days to wrap up the signing of Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi on loan, as they will still make one final attempt to bring in Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah first.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri would be ready to move for Acerbi, but that they are still exploring the possibility of loaning in Chalobah for the season as an alternative to the 34-year-old.
Just over a week remains in the transfer window and Inter have yet to complete their final signing, expected to be a low-cost defensive signing to complete the depth in the back three.
Acerbi has long been a name on the Nerazzurri’s list, albeit not the priority, and in the last week or so progress has been made in talks between Inter, Lazio, and the defender’s agent which would essentially allow them to make a loan deal with a purchase option quickly.
However, Inter will not pull the trigger just yet and are still waiting to see if a loan of Chalobah would be possible before they do so.
