Inter could decide not to go ahead with a deal to sign defender Francesco Acerbi on loan from Lazio if President Steven Zhang decides against it.
This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who reports on his homepage that the Nerazzurri President remains to be convinced by Acerbi as a target and could decide against investing in the wages of a defensive reinforcement before the transfer window closes.
Inter have reportedly gotten close to completing a deal with Lazio to sign Acerbi on loan, but they still lack the final go-ahead from Zhang to complete the deal.
The President is still considering whether the strategy of signing a player like Acerbi would be the right strategy given that it would add to the club’s wage bill.
It will be up to Inter coach Simone Inzaghi and the club directors to convince Zhang that Acerbi’s wages would be a worthwhile investment over the coming days in order to get the loan deal for the 34-year-old done.
