Italian journalist Matteo Marani has said that the Italy national team should keep Inter’s Federico Dimarco in the squad, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking whilst in the Sky Sport Studios, via FCInternews, Matteo Marani analysed the 1-0 win that Italy recorded over England at San Siro in the UEFA Nations League.

He highlighted how significant it was for the team to approach the game in the way they did after what had been a very tough previous international break where they were beaten heavily by Germany in the same tournament.

“Yesterday the national team did something really significant: for the way it approached the match, for the courage, for the group. It was not easy, we came from a difficult June and it was a very tricky match against a strong team that can still play a good World Cup.”

The Azzurri were certainly deserving of the win that came thanks to a goal from Napoli forward Giacomo Raspadori who was impressive all evening.

One player that he picked out as being important to the team was Inter defender Federico Dimarco who was a constant danger to England on the left.

“Italy played the whole match, with players who showed they cared about the national team. Dimarco, for example: yesterday some important plays came from his side.”
