The one major selection doubt that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has ahead of this evening’s Champions League clash with Barcelona appears to concern how he’ll set up his attack.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who report that the coach could either play with two strikers or with a striker and an attacking midfielder.
Inzaghi has just two senior strikers available to him for this evening’s match, in the form of Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko.
This means that if the coach is to stick with his customary 3-5-2 formation he’d be forced into choosing the two of them to play together.
This is certainly an option, and is how Inzaghi set the team up against Sassuolo over the weekend.
However, should the coach decide to go a different route, he has shown plenty of times in the past with Inter and Lazio that he can switch to a 3-5-1-1 system.
Should Inzaghi decide to play this system, the player likeliest to be used as an attacking midfielder behind the striker would be Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
