Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni believes that the Nerazzurri must now take their momentum from the Champions League and transfer it into the league.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, the 23-year-old stressed having consistency and continuity as they look to follow up their Champions League heroics by coming back in the Serie A table.

It’s job done for Inter in the Champions League, where they’ve managed to qualify for the knockouts from a very difficult group with a match to spare.

In the league, however, the story looks very different.

The Nerazzurri remain outside the European places in the table as they’ve given themselves a big gap to make up with their poor start to the campaign.

If Inter can do what they have in the Champions League in the league, the things could soon look different for them.

For Bastoni, the only thing for the Nerazzurri to do is to keep believing that this will be possible.

Asked how the Nerazzurri plan to try and come back in Serie A, Bastoni replied “By approaching it with the same spirit we have since we beat Barcelona, all fighting for one another.”

“If we do this, I think we can find satisfaction.”

Of the team’s defense this season, Bastoni said that “We’ve already conceded many goals due to individual negligence, we’re improving and we are happy with the path we’re on.”
