Inter have been criticised for their lack of response after fans were forced out of their seats during the 3-0 win over Sampdoria in Serie A yesterday, with journalist Enrico Mentana unimpressed.

On a post on his Facebook page, director of Italian television programme TG La7 Mentana launched an attack on the failure of Inter to address claims that hardcore ultras had forced regular fans out of the Curva Nord during the game, as reported by FCInterNews.it.

It is reported that this was in tribute to ultra leader and convicted drug trafficker Vittorio Boiocchi, who had been killed this week, and the group had sought to empty the stand to honour him.

This led to other fans in that particular stand, including women and children, being threatened and force to leave midway through the game, and Inter’s silence on the matter has not gone unnoticed by Mentana.

The journalist also took the opportunity to blast the wider culture within Italian football, arguing that illegal activity in stadiums allowed such incidents to happen.

“Do Inter have nothing to say about what happened last night in the stands of the San Siro?” he wrote.

“Can somone who paid for a ticket to watch the match be forced to go out against their will to participate in the mourning of the death of a someone like that? Can an organised Curva continue to operate outside the rules and laws?

“Can the Liga Serie A and the Football Association continue to close their eyes to the big and small crimes that thrive around the organised support of many Italian teams?

“Last night’s episode is just the latest in a long series of disgraces seen in so many Italian stadiums since the stands have been opened up to the public again. Do you all want to keep looking away?” Mentana concluded.
