Inter may bring forward their plans to sign Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram to January, rather than waiting for next summer.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri are keen to land the France international and are weighing up the advantages of moving for him in the winter window, despite his contract at Gladbach expiring in June.
The Bundesliga club have resigned themselves to the fact that Thuram has no intention of remaining beyond his current deal, and so may look to cash in on him in January to ensure they bring in a transfer fee.
It is thought that his situation is similar to that of Christian Eriksen’s, with Inter spending €20 million to secure him from Tottenham Hotspur in January 2020, rather than wait an extra six months and risk missing out to other competitors when the Dane would be available as a free agent.
Gladbach are likely to demand €10m to sell in January, and whilst funds are tight at Inter this could be countered by the sale of Roberto Gagliardini or Robin Gosens.
Inter are also boosted by Thuram’s desire to play in the Champions League, and a move this winter would make him available to feature in the Nerazzurri’s clash against Porto in February.
