Inter and AC Milan’s hopes of beginning work on a new stadium have been dealt a further blow after the Regional Administrative Court, TAR, were presented with an appeal against the move.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, TAR are now considering a move pushed by the Gruppo Verde Milano San Siro association, as they raised concerns about the existing Stadio Giuseppe Meazza site after a new stadium is built.
The group are looking for confirmation that the project will be sustainable and the local area will continue to be supported, with fears that there will be little focus on redeveloping the existing site once the clubs have moved.
Mayor of Milan, Beppe Sala, has confirmed that the project would consider the local neighbourhoods in the vicinity of the existing stadium, whilst allowing Inter and AC Milan to push ahead with their plans.
Meanwhile, the two clubs are yet to respond to the Grupo Verde Milano San Siro’s appeal, and will monitor the situation before taking any action.
