Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is happy with the fact that both midfielder Marcelo Brozovic and striker Lautaro Martinez have been making deep runs at the World Cup in Qatar.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the coach is not worried about late returns from either of the pair, and is messaging them regularly to congratulate them on their progress.
Inter are set to have a player in the World Cup, although who that player will be will be determined by the outcome of tomorrow’s semifinal clash between Brozovic’s Croatia and Martinez’s Argentina.
With deep tournament runs of this nature, the risk is always present of players returning tired and having to prepare hastily for the return of the club season, particularly given the nature of the winter World Cup.
However, in Inzaghi’s mind, the boost in morale and confidence of a deep run at the tournament outweighs the possible risk of getting a key player like Brozovic or Martinez back late.
