Inter are still keen to extend the contract of defender Danilo D’Ambrosio past the end of June 2023.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInter1908, who report that the Nerazzurri still feel that the 34-year-old has a role to play despite the increasing impact that injuries have had on him in the past couple seasons.
D’Ambrosio extended his contract by one season in the summer transfer window prior to the current campaign.
The former Torino defender remains an important player in this Nerazzurri squad for his experience and influence in the dressing room.
Moreover, the 34-year-old has still shown that he is capable of putting in reliable displays when he is fit.
It is fitness that has become an issue in the past couple seasons, as injuries have ruled him out of more time than they had in past campaigns.
However, from the club’s perspective, they would still be happy to extend D’Ambrosio’s deal.
