Manchester United are pushing to sign Inter-linked Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Red Devils are pushing to get a deal done for the 25-year-old during the January transfer window.
Man United do not want to waste any time in signing a forward, given that the departure of Ronaldo following a mutual termination of his contract leaves a vacancy in their squad.
The likes of PSV’s Cody Gakpo, Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic, and Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos have been among the names linked, but according to Tuttosport they have turned their attention to Thuram.
The Frenchman is a target for a number of clubs, with the Nerazzurri having made him a serious target.
Thuram’s contract with Gladbach is set to expire at the end of June 2023 and he will be available on a free transfer next summer, but United don’t want to wait and would be ready to sign him for a fee in January to immediately replace Ronaldo.
