Robin Gosens is starting to show the kind of form which would suggest that he will be able to challenge Federico Dimarco for the starting spot on Inter’s left flank.
This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the 28-year-old is no longer considered a candidate for a sale during the January transfer window, and could well push Dimarco for a spot in the Nerazzurri’s starting eleven.
Only a few weeks ago, reports emerged that Gosens could leave Inter in January.
A possible move to the Bundesliga was removed, given that the German had found playing time hard to come by throughout the first part of the campaign, and missed out on the World Cup with Germany.
The outstanding form of Dimarco, who nailed down a spot in Inter’s starting eleven in the first part of the season, was one of the major reasons for Gosens finding it hard to get a look into the starting eleven.
However, the former Atalanta wingback’s own form was also not considered to be up to par, particularly considering he has still struggled for his best physical condition after recovering from a lengthy injury.
During the World Cup break, however, Gosens has convinced the club and coach Simone Inzaghi that he will be ready to make a significant impact over the rest of the campaign, when they will need his quality to add depth to the squad and push Dimarco for the starting spot on the left.
