Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan will be evaluated today for a knock that he suffered during yesterday’s friendly clash with Sassuolo.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the injury is not thought to be serious but that tests should further reveal the extent of it.

Mkhtiaryan was taken off as a substitute just a few minutes into the second half of yesterday’s match against Sassuolo.

Reports after the match suggested that this was just a precaution to avoid causing any more significant fitness problems for the Armenian.

Today, Mkhitaryan is set to undergo tests with the Nerazzurri’s medical staff.

These examinations should make clear how serious the problem is for Mkhitaryan and what the timeline will be for him to return to full fitness.

The outcome of these tests could be important in determining what role the 33-year-old has to play when  Inter face Napoli next week.
