Inter should be able to call upon midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan for Wednesday’s crucial Serie A match against Napoli, despite an injury scare.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, the former Armenia international has recovered from a minor lower back injury sustained in this week’s friendly against Sassuolo.

Mkhitaryan was withdrawn just three minutes into the second half, sparking fears that he wouldn’t be available to face league leaders Napoli in the first Serie A game since the World Cup break.

However, the summer signing from Roma yesterday completed a training session with the other players who competed against Sassuolo.

There remain doubts surrounding the fitness of centre-back Stefan De Vrij though, with the Netherlands international complaining of soreness around his ankle upon his return from World Cup duty.

The former Lazio defender has completed individual training to avoid pressure on his ankle, but is not currently on course to start against Napoli, with his place going to Francesco Acerbi.
