Inter could face difficulties in trying to sign Atalanta defender Merih Demiral on loan, as Atalanta are not keen on allowing the 24-year-old to leave on loan this month.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that La Dea would only be interested in selling the former Sassuolo and Juventus defender on a permanent basis, and that coach Gian Piero Gasperini would not want the player to depart.

Demiral’s name has emerged has one of Inter’s main targets to replace Milan Skriniar should the Slovakian leave to join Paris Saint-Germain before the transfer window closes tomorrow evening.

FCInterNews confirm that the Nerazzurri have seriously discussed the Turk with his agent and with Atalanta, and are hoping to get a deal done before the transfer window closes.

However, Inter’s hope is to sign Demiral on loan with a purchase option.

According to FCInterNews, La Dea would not want to allow the player to leave on loan but only in a permanent deal.

Meanwhile, Atalanta coach Gasperini is not keen to see Demiral leave, given that the injury to Jose Luis Palomino threatens to leave the Lombard team shorthanded in defense.
