Former Inter coach Antonio Conte doesn’t hide the fact that being back at the San Siro with his current team Tottenham Hotspur is an emotional experience for him.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, the coach opened up about what being back at the stadium that he called home for two seasons means to him on a personal level.
Conte arrived at Inter in 2019, and despite a relatively short tenure that lasted just two seasons, the coach certainly left his mark.
Expectations were high for the coach given his track record of success and league titles with Juventus and Chelsea, and that is exactly what was delivered, with Conte winning the Scudetto in his second season with the Nerazzurri after having guided the team to the Europa League final in his first.
Conte departed from Inter not long after that Serie A title triumph and is now at the helm in North London, but circumstances have brought him back to the San Siro to face Milan in the Champions League, an opponent who he met in numerous memorable Milan derbies.
“The initial feelings are always wonderful,” the coach said, “I’m home, Italy is my home.”
“Then, I go back to the Meazza after 21 months spent there, and everything that I shared with Inter over two seasons” he continued.
“It’s something that causes me strong feelings,” he added.
