Inter are close to signing defender Francesco Acerbi on a permanent basis from Lazio from next season onwards.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri want to sign the 35-year-old permanently, and that they are optimistic that they can negotiate a permanent transfer from the Biancocelesti.

As far as Acerbi’s performances this season, Inter are completely convinced, and feel that the former Sassuolo defender has a future role in the team.

However, the main obstacle towards securing Acerbi’s future remains the fact that the 35-year-old is still a Lazio player, and is only on loan at Inter from the capital club until the end of the season.

The Nerazzurri’s intention is certainly to try and negotiate a permanent deal for the defender with the Biancocelesti.

The mood at Inter is one of optimism that they will be able to do so, particularly given that Acerbi is a player who Lazio are keen to offload.
