The current owners of the Hippodrome of San Siro area have made clear that they do not intend to sell the land to Inter and AC Milan to construct a new stadium despite reports from today that suggest that this could be a possibility.
The Italian company released a press release today, which was reported on by FCInter1908, in which they address the reports and state that they are not interested in selling the land.
Inter and Milan have been linked with the possibility of building a new stadium in place of the race track at the Hippodrome, rather than in place of the existing Giuseppe Meazza stadium.
The reports have suggested that his would represent a way for the two clubs to build within the city of Milan and in the San Siro district without having to demolish the San Siro, which could allow them to secure approval faster.
Milan Mayor Beppe Sala was asked about the possibility, and stated that whilst he doesn’t know much about it, he could see it as a good solution.
However, the land is privately held, with company Snaitech the current owners, and they have quashed the reports altogether.
They stated, “Concerning the reports that have come out in certain outlets in the press today that a new stadium project could be built in the training track area defined as ‘ex-Snai’, the owners of the race track, Snaitech, deny that there would be a sale of those tracks.”
