Romelu Lukaku looks to have moved ahead of Edin Dzeko as the likeliest candidate to start alongside Lautaro Martinez in attack during the team’s Champions League round of sixteen first leg match against Porto.
This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, who report that the Belgian is now likely to start the match on Wednesday based on his performance against Udinese and the past couple of training session.
Lukaku started against Udinese, and whilst the 29-year-old’s only goal in the match came from the penalty spot, his overall performance was considered to be an encouraging one.
Prior to the match against the Friulani, Mediaset reports, there were doubts about Lukaku’s fitness and form heading into the match against Porto, and for this reason, it had been assumed that Dzeko was favourite to start the match.
However, now Lukaku is looking likelier and likelier to be the player turned to to start against Porto.
