Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels positive about the progress being made by striker Romelu Lukaku.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, the coach expressed some optimism about how the Belgian is doing, and also stated that he doesn’t take criticisms too personally.
Lukaku is finally back fit and available to start regularly for Inter, after a couple of lengthy injuries kept him out of action for long parts of the season thus far.
The 29-year-old started against Udinese over the weekend, and while it was hardly his best performance in an Inter shirt, there were many positive signs.
For his part, Lukaku’s coach feels that things are going well and that he’s getting close to being able to contribute at the required level.
“He’s getting better and better, he had a long time on the sidelines which is something he wasn’t used to,” Inzaghi said of the striker.
“Being out for four months isn’t easy, I’ve been through that as a player as well,” he added.
The coach stated that “He always does everything to be at the disposal of the coaching staff and his teammates, so I have positive feelings.”
Inzaghi also was asked about the criticisms that he’s faced this season, and he replied “Criticism is a part of life as a coach.”
“I divide the criticisms into two categories,” he added. “Those which are constructive and can help us improve, and the ones that are just ad hoc which I don’t give any weight to.”
