AC Milan have made the decision that they will build a new stadium on their own, without city rivals Inter and away from  the San Siro area.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Rossoneri’s plans have decisively shifted to moving the project to a new area.

Whilst Milan have been working towards building a new stadium in the San Siro area together with Inter, which would see the clubs demolish the existing Giusppe Meazza stadium and build in its place, they have become fed up with the delays.

The Rossoneri feel that too much time has already been lost to bureaucratic delays which have held up construction, and they are now committed to building in a different area where they can secure approval quickly.

The Sesto San Giovanni municipality would be a prime candidate, the Gazzetta reports, although there is also San Donato as an option.

Given the uncertainty around Inter at the corporate level, the Rossoneri have decided that they are ready to build the new stadium entirely on their own and for their own use, without their city rivals.
